Theme: ‘Take Your Place’
Sunday 30 August 2020
Connect Group Discussion Questions:
1. In Sunday’s devotional, Megan shared with us: “As hearers of this story, we are invited, like Mary, to take our place at the feet of Jesus, to learn from Him, to allow our lives and our priorities to be shaped by Him, and to listen to His voice.”
How do you feel you have been growing recently, in your journey following Jesus?
2. Megan shared with us this quote, from Canadian speaker and church leader Danielle Strickland:
“The Coronavirus is exposing our addiction to comfort,
Our obsession with control,
Our compulsion to hoard,
Our protection of self.
The Coronavirus is peeling back our layers,
Tearing down our walls,
Revealing our illusions,
Levelling our best-laid plans.
Coronavirus is exposing the gods we worship:
• Our health
• our hurry
• Our sense of security
• Our favourite lies
• Our secret lusts, and
• Our misplaced trust.”
How does this quote challenge or speak to you today? What news thing is God wanting to give you, or to do in your life through this unique season we find ourselves in?
3. This week’s Spiritual Practice is reading something (even a few verses) from one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) every day. Share with the group how you may like to have a go at this Spiritual Practice or how you have been going with having a go at any of the previous Practices in our Series (Neighbouring, Prayer Walking, Surrender).
