We believe in changing lives in practical and spiritual ways. Our ministries are an example of how we express that in our community.

Helping Hand Cafe

Helping Hand is currently On Pause
As of 10 May 2021, our Helping Hand ministries are on pause, following the decision of our Helping Hand Manager, Robert Adams,  to conclude his role with Helping Hand, after almost 16 years in the role.
As the founder of Helping Hand Café, Robert has made such an indelible impact on our church and wider community through the ministry of Helping Hand and we appreciate and honour all Robert has done to serve our community.
We look forward to thanking and acknowledging Robert for the enormous contribution he has made, at a date to be advised.
Helping Hand Hampers and Helping Hand Café will take a break until further notice while our Ministry Team and Church Executive work together alongside our current Helping Hand volunteers on the shape of the ministries going forward. We also welcome expressions of interest from our wider community members, who may wish to get involved in our Helping Hand ministries in its next season  – please email Tiffany if you would like to get involved.

Connect Groups

Our Connect Groups are groups of people who gather together weekly to share life together, study the Bible, pray and care for one another, challenge one another in faith and seek God together for how God is calling them to bless our community.

Our Connect Groups are:

  • Sundays after 10:00am Worship (once monthly) & Wednesdays 7:30pm (twice monthly) (led by the Hartmans)
  • Tuesdays 7:30pm (led by the Lanyons) – via Zoom
  • Wednesdays 7:30pm (led by Liz Hunter) – via Zoom
  • Sundays after our 10:00am Worship Gathering – monthly – last Sunday of the month (Young families, led by the Jungs)

For more information on how to sign up, please contact Megan or Tiff on our Ministry Team.

Our kids are an incredibly important part of the life of our church, and as a church we make every effort to ensure that kids and parents are championed and equipped for day to day discipleship.

If your children are aged from 18 months to 3 years they are welcome to join Little Seeds, our play-based toddler program. If your children are aged 4 to grade 6, they are welcome to join Seeds. Seeds and Little Seeds run each week during school term time. Seeds and Little Seeds begin around 20-30 minutes after the start of the service, usually after our time of worship and Communion, and run until the end of the service. Some weeks our Seeds break off into two groups – early primary (4 year old kinder to grade 2) and primary (grade 3 to grade 6) for more age-specific teaching and activities.

Our Seeds and Little Seeds volunteers are passionate about Jesus and love being a part of helping our kids discover what it means to follow Jesus. All our Seeds volunteers have Working With Children checks. We use the ‘Kidswise’ curriculum with our Seeds program: find out more here. All parents of Seeds and Little Seeds children must have completed a Child Registration Form before a child can participate in the program.

We have a kids’ corner at the back of the chapel which all our kids are welcome to use – there is always play-doh, activity sheets and lots of other toys and games to be found in our kids’ corner! We also have a baby change table in our female toilets.

Giving backEvery year, we give away a portion of our church income to our mission partners who are focused on bringing God’s justice, hope, equality, and peace to communities in Melbourne, across Australia and in some of the poorest parts of the world. We currently support Urban Neighbours of Hope (UNOH) and Global Mission Partners.

We also invite our church community to give over and above their regular church giving to some special offerings during the year, including:

  • Global Mission Partners Church Partnership Offering (May)
  • Christmas Bowl Appeal of Act for Peace, National Council of Churches (December)
  • Churches of Christ Overseas Aid (COCOA) (December).
