My name is Mark. I am here today because of some very special people that have helped change my life. Due to these people I have been able to turn my life around. From this I have been able to help others less fortunate than myself. Today is special as this is my chance to recognize the love of Jesus and the influence of his Spirit.
Around 10 years ago I did not have the strength to handle the pressure and stresses of life. I found it hard to get out of bed. I was severely depressed and had attempted suicide. I was letting myself down and others.
Yet somehow I found the strength to seek help. Through this help and guidance I have found the way to carry on. I am able to do things now I could not do before. I have less anxiety now and I worry less about things. All in all things have been improving for me for some time now and I believe that this will continue because Jesus is guiding me now and he is my Saviour.
I believe that Jesus is the son of God who as a man was remarkable and unique. He has the power to perform miracles and to heal and through his death on the cross he forgave the sins of man and took all of our burdens. Through his love he has brought people closer to God.
I know that I have sinned and that I need God’s forgiveness and I thank God for sending Jesus into the world to live a life of love, to die on the cross and be raised to life again, which means I can be reborn into a new life, a better life, and that I can let go of my old life and step into the new life. Jesus has given me faith to put my trust in him and to now live this new life.
I believe Jesus can help me become a better person and his love brings me closer to God. Now I want to be sincere, honest, wise, respectful, more mature and truthful and to help others.
Through the work of the church I have learned to take a more active role in the kitchen through volunteering at Helping Hand Café. Robert has been a real friend and a trustworthy colleague and he has given me his trust which is very valuable to me and I take my responsibilities at Helping Hand Café seriously. Robert has given me a chance to learn how to be a part of a team but also how to help others. What we do in the kitchen is essential. Without Robert our kitchen and Helping Hand Café would not be what it is today.
Barbara has been a massive help to me. I could never repay her for her help. Unfortunately Barb is not here today as she is visiting family abroad but I want to thank Barb who has persevered with me over the last 2 years at Helping Hand Learning and who has has helped me a lot. Through Helping Hand Learning I have been able to prove to myself that I can do things I had not done before.
Barb has also challenged me to be a better person than I was. In the end I am. Thank you Barb.
Megan has been a great influence on me. She has changed me to become a better person.
I have enjoyed becoming part of this church family and I look forward to getting more involved. I appreciate the support and prayers of everyone in the church and ask for your prayers as I continue on in my faith journey. Thank you.
