In 1971, when I was at Altona North High School, Pam Hope invited me to come to youth group at willichurch. It was there, throughJohn Smith & "God Squad" that I met Jesus. We were a wild youth group, a lively bunch of typical teenagers. Most weeks toward the end of the night, Dorothy Aldersley and Stewart Bussey would lead a 'devotional'. It was always very thought provoking and raised a lot of questions (usually which were vehemently discussed with Pam Hope and others during class at school). Sunday nights, some of the youth group came to church - but to our shame we often partied afterwards at Ray Threllfal's playing "spin the bottle" After being baptised by Keith Pitt, I started behaving more like a Christian and less like a wild teenager. I will always be greatful to George and Edna Aldersley for taking me under their wing. I also have fond memories of helping in the girls club, teaching Sunday School and preaching my first sermon there. The other family that impacted me were John & Colleen Harmer, Esther and Amanda, who are still friends today.

Dues to distance I will not be able to attend but wish the church group a very real blessing as you celebrate. I feel I owe much to many past members of the church for the nurturing of my christian life. I have many wonderful memories of them.

I would like to convey our church council's and people's heartfelt congratulations to your church. It is an amazing grace of God that you as people of God in Williamstown could witness to the good news of Jesus for the past 120 years. I hope God blesses your continuing ministry and witness and that your planned celebrations go well.
