ImageLearn to cook  - make great friends then enjoy eating lunch together

This is what the most recent paricipants said...

Did you enjoy Helping Hand Cooking? An immediate yes from all five participants.

What have you enjoyed most?

  • Learning about cooking vegetables. Finding out about fat and using olive oil. I can follow the pictures in the recipes and make them at home.
  • The fellowship with people. We had some fun. Kerrie is lovely.
  • Social aspect. Being taught how to make different meals to try at home.
  • Everything. Learning different ways of doing things like cutting onions. The pictures for each part of the recipe.
  • Eating together and having a laugh. Healthy food; I liked the frittata.

What have you learned?

  • How to make recipes and cook better. What to use in the kitchen.
  • Preparing food. Cooking is not hard and I can do it. Storing food and leftovers.
  • More about food safety. Little things like using a sponge under a chopping board. Recipes I can use at home.
  • How to make pasta with vegetables. About how to wash hands and wash food. How to cut vegetables. You live longer if you eat more vegetables.
  • Heaps of good things. I liked the food and my husband really loves it. Learning about soup was good; lots of vegetables and you live longer if you eat them. How to sharpen knives. Sharp knives are safer.

How will you use this at home?

  •  I will always wash my hands and make homemade pasta sauce with vegetables. We (husband and wife) loved that recipe.
  • I will be able to cook for my friends and try the recipes for myself. It is best to steam vegetables so I can do that at home.
  • I will make minestrone soup for my son; it has lots of vegetables so it is healthy. I have some different meals to cook now and more confidence to try new things.
  • I like cooking so I will use the recipes. I do not have to use memory because the pictures help me to follow the recipe. I will eat more vegetables.
  • I made the minestrone soup last night. I will wash my hands more. I loved the frittata and the stir fry was my favourite.
